Pecha Kucha Sheffield Vol#07 is a celebration of doing things ‘First’, those who’ve done what no one else dared to, the ones who lead the way forward, things never before seen or dreamt of, the few who have pioneered the future we have today and are creating the one we will experience tomorrow.
On the night, we’ll have another fantastic speaker line-up & a whole host of entertainment. With presentations showcasing the passions, ideas and ‘inner workings’ of the minds of some of the regions well known and as-yet-unknown talent. This one is going to be a bit special though…for the ‘First’ time ever, Pecha Kucha Sheffield will be a fundraising event to highlight & raise money to save this historic metalwork factory; with the money generated from ticket sales, the bar and food going to the cause.
Portland Works, built in 1870, was the ‘First’ place Stainless Steel as ever produced in the world, a centenary that will be celebrated in 2013…if the building can be saved! This landmark building is not just a part of Sheffield’s culture, but an iconic point in World history…and unless we act now, it’s under threat of being closed and turned into luxury flats.
